Custom Cupcakes

There is a little girl that will turn 7 tomorrow!  She is very creative and already has her own sense of style.  A regular cupcake just won't do.  Since she has invited her whole class to her party, we need custom cupcakes at grocery store prices!

Your local warehouse store will make plain frosted cupcakes for you!  I ordered some with white buttercream frosting, yum!  My daughter chose candy in the colors of her party at our local Wal-Mart.

I spent about 10 minutes decorating and now have beautiful custom cupcakes for cheap!

Barbie Party

I know I haven’t blogged in a while, but that end of school year stuff had me running all over!  I was spending part of almost every day volunteering at school in one way or another.  I love all the end of school year fun, so I had to volunteer so I could be involved and take pictures!  Enough of that, here is the good stuff:
My daughter turned six on May 26th so we had a very fun Barbie party!  My good friend Sunny gave me the idea of decorating with books for holidays and events.  I always have loved walking into her house to see how she has used her children’s books to decorate that month.  So creative!  Of course I stole her idea for my daughter’s party and pulled out every Barbie book I had…then pulled out all of her (and mine) Barbie toys and paraphernalia.  What a fun way to decorate, and I didn’t spend any money on the decorations!
After a trip to the dollar store for paper goods, balloons, and party favors, I was ready!  Oh, did I mention the Barbie cake I made that takes a normal adult 2 hours and took me 7 hours to complete?  It was worth it, and if my daughter (or son) ever wants one again I will be able to do it much faster! Ha, Ha!  We all had a great girly time!

Girly Centerpieces

Our church is having a Sweet Pea Tea for mothers’ and daughters’ this Saturday!  I was asked to make the centerpieces and had such a fun time coming up with something pink that is in line with the theme.  We will all have tea, treats, and watch the Veggie Tales Sweet Pea Beauty movie.
I bought everything for the centerpieces at The Dollar Tree and 99cent store.  Each centerpiece cost around $3.75 and took me 5 minutes a centerpiece to make!  Such an easy idea for a girl party.  We will give them away at the end of the tea.  I am sure the girls will love taking home their own flower arrangement with a tiara!

Baby Shower

My mom, sis, and I gave a baby shower for our friend Jess today.  It was so much fun!  There is nothing like a day for the ladies and little girls to have lunch and celebrate the coming of a new baby.
Since Jess and her husband want to be surprised at the birth, I decided to theme the shower around the mom to be.  She likes flowers, purples, and chocolates.  I made the invitations first, using Brittish Designs digital kit, Itty Bitty.

Then I based the flower arrangements and favors (a cello bag with different chocolates in it) around the colors of the invitation. Budget tip, buy your glass vases for arrangements at a thrift store, you will even pay less than the dollar stores.  At the end of the shower I send the arrangements home with the mom to be and her relatives.  It was 76 and sunny, we all had lunch outside!

My Mom found these adorable cupcakes at a local bakery, French's Pastry.

It was a fun and fabulous day!

Video Game Party

My son’s birthday is this weekend and turning 9 he wanted a video game party.  He decided to have it at a local pizza place…I jumped for joy at this, no house to clean...uhh, I mean shove stuff in closets, right!  Anyways, I came up with some goodie cups and decorations, but kept them in budget with being a little creative!
My son’s favorite video games are Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario Bros. so I started looking for items to go with this theme right after Christmas.  I was able to score on some after Christmas deals:  red cups, chocolate coal pieces (they look like Donkey Kong bombs), and green clips.  I then added in napkins ordered from www.birthdayexpress.com , and bought the rest of the items at The Dollar Tree.  I recommend always checking your local dollar stores before anywhere else when putting a party together.  If you can find items in your theme there, you will always get a better deal.  The only splurge I had for this party was the Donkey Kong napkins that I ordered; they don’t carry them anywhere else!
Below are the cups I came up with and the items I included in them that went with the theme.  I downloaded free Donkey Kong and Plumber Bros. fonts to make the name tags for the cups!  The party was a huge success and fun for all!
